Somali Youth are tired of being topics: We want opportunities.

The biggest and most expensive weapon a country has is the youth especially when young people have received equal educational opportunities. Expressing your experiences, abilities, skills, and ideas is what contributes to change. Every positive change brings prosperity.

Young people in Somalia are not just the future of the country; they are also the majority. Nearly three-quarters of the population is under 30 years old. Most are born after the overthrow of the Siad Barre regime in 1991 and have only known conflict and violence. An entire generation has missed out on education, employment, and knowing what a stable life is. Many lost hope for a better future.

When it comes to education, Somalia has one of the lowest enrolment rates in the world. A survey showed that in Somalia overall, 27 percent of youth aged 14-29 have not completed any type of school, 25 percent attended a Koranic school, 27 percent attended Primary school, and 21percent went to secondary school or above. Due to the lack of educational opportunities over the last two decades, only half of young Somalis can read or write. Looking at employment, it does not look betterhttps://tinyurl.com/3pvw46yx

Missing out on education and employment creates frustration and demoralization among many youths. They might be tempted by crime, endangering not only themselves but also their communities.

Despite these challenges, Somali youth also show a great sense of optimism when it comes to the future of their country. They want opportunities to go to school and join the workforce. They want to be heard and participate in politics and in rebuilding their nation. They want to shape their future. If given a chance, youth have the potential to become drivers for peace and stability. This situation calls for nothing less than a paradigm shift in policies and attitudes towards the role of youth to empower and place them at the core of the development agenda.

Unemployment is one of the most pressing problems all over the world, in developing countries, especially Somali youth. In some ways, unemployment became an inconsistent problem facing many of the developed and developing countries. When someone needs to work and have the knowledge and the skills to qualify and don't get a job is known as unemployment.

Unemployment and poverty in Somalia have forced many young people to emigrate in search of a better life through perilous journeys across deserts and seas. Some young people's lack of education, inexperience, and lack of skills are what motivate some young people to become criminals, perpetrators of societal violence.

The shortcomings in Somalia, where most of the youth are unemployed, include limited government-run vocational training centers, few free educational institutions, and, a lack of viable education, clan and cultural prejudices, unemployment, and poverty. There is little volunteerism by young people, although in recent times there has been an increase in the number of young people volunteering, innovating which undermined the perception of inaction among Somali youth.

Young people has the ability to effect lasting change across the globe with the push of a button. There is a lot of effort and progress being made by young people around the world, whether they work in a United Nations program for sustainable development goals (SDGs) and many more. Contributing to the development of positive change is a history that will be left to the country and its people, and such changes can be brought about by talented, educated, hard-working young people, committed to serving their country, risking their lives for their country.

That history will be a clear example for the young people behind us. These changes can bring better today, it is possible that much of the world to switch to the internet which can make them more opportunities to present themselves before the leave date.

The benefits of the internet are incalculable and it is now the most widely used tool for change in the world. We need to think about how we can take advantage of it even in the cheapest countries on the internet.

Young people are brave, impetuous, fearless ,dynamic, and self-confident. Young people have the ideas, the creativity and great energy to shape a better world. Young people are full of hope and through innovation and imagination, they are problem solvers and have a great potential to generate a positive social change in the world.

Youth can use their talent and resources to make a huge difference in the world:  Volunteering, speaking out, Networking with other young people, Use online platforms to reach others, Thinking local, Spreading the word about issues that matter, Hosting a youth summit, Joining (or starting) a youth organizations, Inspiring young people, Giving other young people a role, and think out of the box.

The efforts of young people are important to overcome all problems. We must find a solution to every problem we encounter. If we have to wait for a solution from someone else, nothing will change and things may even get worse.
